Beginner questions
Is Muay Thai good for beginners?
Yes. You learn one technique at a time, and you can work at your own pace from the first class. No prior fitness level or martial arts background is required.
Am I too out of shape to start Muay Thai?
No. Getting in shape is one of the main reasons people start. Go at your own pace and rest when you need to.
Will I get hit in my first class?
No. Beginners work on technique, pads and bags. Sparring is optional and only when you are ready.
What is the Art of 8 Limbs?
The Art of 8 Limbs is the traditional name for Muay Thai. It refers to the eight points of contact used to strike: two fists, two elbows, two knees and two shins.
What equipment do I need for Muay Thai?
For your first class at Team Marfort you only need workout clothes, water and a towel. As you keep training, most people get their own gloves, hand wraps and shin guards.
